The European Commission has initiated a public consultation on a new “European Strategy for Research and Technology Infrastructures”, according to an announcement from the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SBFI).
The strategy aims to ensure that researchers, innovators, and industry across Europe gain access to a comprehensive range of world-class facilities and tailored services. These resources are intended to promote scientific and technological excellence while enhancing industrial competitiveness throughout the region.
A key objective of the initiative is the further development and strengthening of Europe's ecosystem of research and technology infrastructures, which serve as critical foundations for innovation and scientific advancement.
The aim of the consultation is to gather more information about the functioning and sustainability of the European research and technology infrastructure landscape. This includes the issues and challenges involved in strengthening the ecosystem of these infrastructures, as well as possible solutions.
Stakeholders are invited to address the following specific questions:
Interested parties can participate in the public consultation, which runs from April 24 to May 22, 2025. The European Commission plans to publish the finalized strategy in the third quarter of 2025.
