On April 24, 2024, SSHOC-CH held a half-day workshop on the need and the future of infrastructures for the social sciences and humanities community in Switzerland at the University of Bern. This workshop was also the formal launch of the SSHOC-CH Association.
The workshop aimed at finding synergies and fostering collaborations between the social sciences and humanities, and to build an ecosystem of national infrastructures and expertise which will support scholars from social sciences and humanities in their research and in managing their data in the spirit of Open Science and FAIR principles.
Current developments at the European level were presented by Bonnie Wolff-Boenisch, Director of CESSDA and chair of SSHOC. After a presentation and discussion on the vision of SSHOC Switzerland, the association was formally launched, statutes were adopted and the board members as well as the president were elected.
The establishment of SSHOC-CH represents a pivotal step forward in bridging the gap between existing infrastructures and advancing research collaboration in Switzerland. We are happy to be moving forward together!
