SSHOC-CH "National Infrastructure Roadmap" Info Event

SERI and swissuniversities have launched the process for the Swiss Roadmap for Research Infrastructures 2027. The Swiss Roadmap for Research Infrastructures is a report on the status and development of national and international research infrastructures. The roadmap process is highly relevant for all national projects seeking long-term institutionalization.
SSHOC-CH organized an event with participation from SERI and swissuniversities to inform the SSH community about the roadmap process and to answer questions. The event took place on December 11, 2024.
Recap of the event
After a presentation of SSHOC-CH by the chair of the Association Georg Lutz from FORS, we welcomed Cyrille Girardin from SERI and Tristan Flury from swissuniversities, who explained the different steps and the timeline of the 2027 Roadmap process and answered participants' questions. Finally, three potential submissions from the SSH domain were showcased during the event.
The event triggered great interest in the community: a total of 53 persons attended the event coming from different areas: SSH researchers, data management officers, data stewards, research infrastructure staff and members of HEIs research vice-presidents' offices.
Summary of the process outline (as explained on the swissuniversities webpage)
- End of 2024 - Start of the process: swissuniversities contact HEI's research vice-rectors and institutional contacts about the 2027 Roadmap process, who are responsible of informing their institutions about the details of the process
- March 2025 - Phase A Coordination: research vice-presidents use opportunities of coordination; early establishment of consortium structures.
- May-August 2025 - Phase B Prioritisation: research vice-presidents prioritise two-page proposals and make recommendations to the responsible bodies of swissuniversities; if necessary, the prioritisation leads to sensible merging of projects at the earliest possible stage.
- Second half of 2025 - Phase C Pre Selection : research vice-presidents pre-select projects and give a recommendation to the responsible bodies of swissuniversities on which projects should be submitted for the Roadmap.
